Aware Lab (R+D)
The Aware.Lab is dedicated to developing software and tools for creating trustworthy AI systems. This lab focuses on integrating security practices from the very beginning of the software development lifecycle. By producing secure development frameworks and security-by-design code libraries, Aware.Lab ensures that the systems developed are robust, reliable, and resilient. Moreover, this lab is a hub for certifying third-party applications, ensuring they meet the highest standards of security and privacy. The lab provides a sandbox where developers can deploy their AI-based software to certifiy that they do not harm users regarding data privacy, AI biases, and other security concerns (including AI security concerns). By developing tools and frameworks to support system audits, the lab ensures that systems are efficient, effective, and auditable. The lab also focuses on certifying that systems under audit are resilient, responsible (responsible AI), and reliable, aiming to create systems that users can trust. Through its rigorous certification processes and continuous monitoring, the lab contributes to the center’s objectives of fostering accountability, protecting user data, and complying with regulations such as GDPR and data privacy laws. Through these initiatives, Aware.Lab supports the center’s goals of promoting equitable and sustainable development, aligning with principles of justice and privacy, and making systems understandable and auditable.
SOC

Cybersecurity Awareness Lab
The Education Lab at the R3 Center is dedicated to enhancing education and awareness across different age groups in cybersecurity. This lab develops tools and conducts practical training sessions using simulators, gamification, and serious games. By offering online courses and webinars, the Education Lab ensures that students and professionals acquire relevant skills in system security and cybersecurity. Through these initiatives, the Education Lab supports the center’s goals of promoting understanding and best practices in system security, fostering a culture of security awareness, and ensuring that the benefits of innovation reach all of society. Additionally, this lab develops educational applications with gamification elements to teach users about data privacy and information security, fostering a culture of security awareness from an early age.
